Class Information
Meet the Teacher:
Hello and welcome to 5th grade! My name is Ms.Ortega, I am so excited to begin my second year of teaching here at St. Christopher School.
I graduated from the University of St. Francis with a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education. During my time in school, I had the wonderful opportunity to student teach in 2nd grade right here at St. Christopher, and I am thrilled to now continue my teaching journey with this amazing community.
My goal this year is to create a happy, supportive, and engaging classroom environment where every student feels encouraged to learn, grow, and succeed. I cannot wait to get to know each of you and make this a fantastic school year together!
Important Information to Know:
-Please remember to check your child’s progress regularly through PowerSchool and take time to check the Daily Assignments/Homework Site.
-The green folder has two pockets labeled “Bring Back to School” and “Stay at Home.” Homework and any other important letters needing signatures should be placed on the “Bring Back to School” side of the folder.
-Blue Folders will be sent home every Friday. Please make sure to check your child’s graded assignments. Please return those folders by the next school day with a signature to indicate that you saw it.
-Assignment Notebooks will be used throughout the year. They are used for homework as well as important reminders. It is very important for you and your child to review all homework assignments together. Parents are asked to initial the assignment notebooks each day.
-All supplies should be brought to school every day to help ensure your child’s success. School supplies may occasionally need to be replenished.
-Your child will also have recess everyday and we will go outside weather permitting. Please make sure children are dressed accordingly.

Monday: Music/Library
Tuesday: PE, Spanish
Wednesday: Mass (1pm Early Dismissal)
Thursday: PE, Spanish
Friday: Art

Late Work:
If an assignment is not turned in on time, you may use a Day-Late Pass or complete the assignment during Power Hour within one week to earn credit.
Grading System
Grading Scale (As seen on Power School)
A = 100% – 93%
B = 92% – 85%
C = 84% – 73%
D = 72% – 65%
F = 64% – below
